A room that changes three times a day
Beyt Gouraud is one room in an old Gemmayzeh house, and it does three different jobs. Mornings are quiet and the filter coffee is good enough to sit with. At noon the kitchen opens and the mezze starts coming out. After seven the lights come down, the bar takes over, and the small plates keep going until we close.
The menu is short on purpose. We shop the Bourj Hammoud market twice a week and buy the produce that is actually good that morning, which means a dish sometimes disappears for a fortnight. We would rather tell you it is off than serve you the version that is not worth it.
Shopped, not ordered
Produce comes from the market twice a week, not from a standing order. If the tomatoes are not right that morning, that dish is off the board for the day.
Your table stays yours
We do not run two sittings. Book at eight and the table is yours for the evening, whether you eat three courses or one and stay for the wine.
One room, three moods
Laptops and filter coffee until five. Plates and a full room at dinner. Lights down and the bar open after seven. Same room, three different nights.
What comes out of the kitchen
A short menu that moves with the market. The daily specials are chalked on the board by the pass and change most weeks, so a dish here may be off for a fortnight.
